Media: Open Thread

In left wing lunacy, Media on November 5, 2010 at 7:45 pm

The AP and CBS photoshopped this picture of Obama, half white and half black, with Democrat leaders over his shoulder on his black side, and Republican leaders over his white.

The photo is causing a stir.  CBS defends the photo by saying, “Our intention with the ‘ripped paper’ overlay effect down the middle was to convey a divided Congress and nothing more.”  Bernie Sanders!

Racist?  You know if Fox News had done it, it would be denounced as such.

Keith Olbermann Suspended from MSNBC

In Jackasses, Keith Olbermann, left wing lunacy, Media on November 5, 2010 at 6:43 pm

The latest casualty of the Tuesday’s election is,… Keith Olbermann?

Seems Olbermann violated NBC’s ethics rules by donating money to political candidates, Democrats, of course.  Olbermann gave $2,400, the maximum contribution allowed for an individual contribution to a candidate, to Representatives Raul Grijalva, Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, and Attorney General Jack Conway of Kentucky.

Olbermann, who acknowledged making the donations, has been suspended indefinitely.

“Keith Olbermann, the pre-eminent liberal voice on American television, was suspended Friday after his employer, MSNBC, discovered that he made campaign contributions to three Democrats last month.”

“The indefinite suspension was a stark display of the clash between objective journalism and opinion journalism on television.”

“The MSNBC president, Phil Griffin, issued a statement saying: ‘I became aware of Keith’s political contributions late last night. Mindful of NBC News policy and standards, I have suspended him indefinitely without pay.’ ”

I am certainly not a fan of Mr. Olbermann, that being said,  I find myself in the unfamiliar and uncomfortable position of having to defend him.  The fact of the matter is that NBC’s ethics policy is presumably in place to protect NBC’s image as an unbiased and objective news organization.  Very few individuals are so blind as to think of NBC’s news reporting  as ‘objective and unbiased’, and certainly no one could make that claim on Olbermann’s behalf and maintain a straight face.

News Corporation, the parent company of Fox News has made substantial donations to the GOP, but they have also donated substantially to Democrats.  Fox News allows its employees and contributors, as private citizens, to donate time and money to political campaigns and causes, why shouldn’t Olbermann be allowed the same freedom?

If NBC is concerned about the public perception of its journalistic objectivity, perhaps they should stop trying to appear unbiased and objective, and actually be unbiased and objective.  Perhaps then they will be able to allow their employees to act according to their own conscience as private citizens.

Obama and Palin Duke it Out

In cartoons, Obama, Palin on September 27, 2010 at 8:06 pm

As I highlighted in a previous post, hopenchange has become a media addiction at every level, comics included.  Now, up coming issues of Archie Comics (Archie #616 and #617, will feature Barack Obama and Sarah Palin squaring off against one another.

The cover for issue #616 places Obama and Palin in a somewhat compromising, almost romantic setting, sharing a milkshake.  How wonderfully warm and fuzzy, right?  Well, it is Archie Comics after all.

But, hold on, Politico is reporting that Archie Comics will announce tomorrow that they are planning additional cover designs that will be significantly less ‘bi-partisan’.

“Archie Comics will announce on Tuesday variant covers on the Obama-Palin theme, with one cover showing Obama poised to clash with Palin in midair, while another — labeled ‘The Fight for America!’ — depicting Obama and Palin sporting boxing gloves, prepped to spar with one other. Obama is dubbed ‘The Chicago Kid’ while Palin gets named ‘The Thrilla from Wasilla.’ ”

“Archie Comics co-CEO Jon Goldwater told POLITICO that the company had received so much positive feedback on the first Obama/Palin cover (which made the rounds last week) they decided, why ruin a good thing?”

With Obama’s approval ratings lagging in direct proportion to the fetters he and his minions are placing on our economy, my money is on Palin.

MSM Coverup of the Bell, Ca Corruption Scandal

In corruption, Media on September 25, 2010 at 10:17 pm

Bell, Ca is a small, ‘blue collar’ town with a big problem, specifically, big, fat, money-grubbing, rats for officials. The residence of Bell have been up in arms ever since they learned that their city manager and council members had awarded themselves more than $5.5 million in excessive salaries.  One city official was making nearly twice Barack Obama’s salary in a city where the average annual income is less than $25,000.  Earlier this week, eight current and former city officials were arrested on corruption charges.

It is now coming to light that the media has been engaged in a coverup of the scandal, not on behalf of these corrupt politicians, but rather, on behalf of the party to which they are affiliated.  You see, all eight of these ‘rats’ are Democrats.

Yet, out of hundreds of stories that have been published about the scandal, very few bothered to mention the party affiliation of the politicians involved.  In fact, it seems clear that there has been a deliberate effort to avoid reporting it.

All Liberal Arguments Lead to George W. Bush

In Jackasses, left wing lunacy, Media, Obama on July 15, 2010 at 7:20 pm

When was the last time you saw a liberal being interviewed where the name of George W. Bush did not come up within the first five minutes?  Chances are that it has been quite sometime.  Liberal Democrats have been running against Bush since 2000, and even though there is evidence that the ‘blame Bush’ tactic is wearing very thin, they seem to not be able to stop.   Here is a great example;

Even though the discussion is about what the Obama DOJ is doing right now, Kirsten Powers just can’t help injecting the Bush administration into the argument  debate not once, not twice, but five times.  It is like a ‘slap stick’ comedy routine.  No, really!  It’s like that old Abbott and Costello bit, “Who’s on first”, in which every effort Lou makes to find out the names of the players on the team, it keeps leading to third base.

The Bloom is Off the Rose

Remember the the ‘state run media’ marketing campaign to visually display Obama as a godlike messiah figure.

My, how things have changed.
